Secondary Model
Model: Secondary classes meet Monday and Wednesday from 8:15a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Class sizes are small, with fewer than 20 students per class. Students take six classes total. Four of the classes are in the core areas of ELA, history, math, and science. They also opt for two elective classes. Elective class offerings change each year, but often include leadership, yearbook, AVID/advisory, art, PE, and science electives such as astronomy, environmental science or marine science. Parents support students in completing work at home that is assigned by teachers.
Lunch: Students have a 30-minute lunch period and can purchase lunch through SMS.
Transportation: P3 secondary is located in portables behind Snoqualmie Middle School. Parents must drop off and pick up students, as transportation is not provided.
State Testing: All students will participate in state and district assessments, including District Assessments, Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA), and Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
Counseling: P3 students work with a school-based counselor through Friends of Youth, the SMS nurse, and a district social worker.
Individual Needs: Students who need specially designed instruction and support services can access those through P3 in many cases. Families work with our P3 special education teacher to schedule these supports. P3 teachers implement accommodations and modifications to their instruction as specified on the student’s IEP.
